Influence of indium and selenium co-doping on structural and thermoelectric properties of Bi2Te3 alloys

Abstract The melt-grown, indium and selenium co-doped Bi 2 Te 3 single-crystal system is studied with a purpose to improve analyze the thermoelectric performance in low near room-temperature range (10–400 K). influence of co-dopants on crystalline perfection, symmetry, dislocation, quality investigated using high-resolution X-ray diffraction. surface morphological features show existence small-angle grain boundaries, white patches, tilt boundaries. Degenerate type semiconducting behavior seen all samples over entire temperature range. small polarons experimentally inferred from temperature-dependent electrical resistivity. Measurement Seebeck coefficient confirms p - n -type transition crystals doped selenium. total thermal conductivity at 11 K was decreased by 3.4 times (Bi 0.98 In 0. 02 ) 2.7 Se 0.3 as compared pristine sample. Therefore, this novel combination viable use competitor for near-room-temperature applications.
